Grab and hold viewers' attention.

Grab and hold viewers' attention by using bold colors, catchy and creative phrases and interesting visuals among your advertisement. Some examples of catchy and creative phrases are

  • "Beanz meanz Heinz." or

  • "Melts in your mouth, not in your hands." Using bold colors, viewers will pay more attention to your advertisement as it stand out from all the others.

Here is an advertisement that makes use of bold colors:

Make your message simple:

Make your message simple but effective to let viewers know that you are the best and that they should buy from you. Come up with a quick but informative sentence or two to help viewers get to know you and your product. Make it simple yet easy to understand. Add lots of visuals as they are far more valuable and much more eye catching than words. Make sure to include your catchy phrase in too!

Explain why you are the best!

If you can and are allowed, write about how you beat other products and why customers should buy your product. Try to include persuasive language in your catchy phrase.

Make it memorable.

Be sure to create an advertisement that stands out and one that has a fresh, new memorable look. This is so important because if your advertisement is memorable, viewers will remember to switch to you when they get the chance. You can make your advertisement memorable by using bright and interesting visuals and a catchy phrase.

Here is an example of a memorable advertisement:

If you achieve this, no one will forget about you product!

Make it entertaining!

A fun and creative advertisement always attracts viewers as it's something fresh and different. A funny catchy phrase is always good fun to read, or a humorous visual can be a great eye catching part of you advertisement. This also makes the advertisement more effective. The more effective an advertisement, the more popular your product gets! Make your advertisement as effective as possible!

Effectiveness!

As mentioned in previous areas, effectiveness is the key to a good advertisement.  Using catchy phrases, memorable visuals, bold colors and simple messages your advertisement will become highly effective. Use as many of these factors as you can, your product will become very popular in no time!

Here is an example of an effective advertisement:

Include links!
Including links and buttons will help viewers get to your website or product faster and it makes your advertisement more organised and simple. Viewers may be willing to view your product or website and anything that will help and encourage them to view your product will help grow your product popularity.

Include your discounts!

Include your product discounts on your advertisements. Viewers will be more attracted as they see the price has lowered. At the same time, make your advertisement unique.

Here is an example of an advertisement which displays their product's discount:

As you can see, the advertisement also includes a catchy phrase and bold colors.

Keep it professional!

No one wants to read a grammatically incorrect advertisement. Run lots of spell checks and grammar checks before publishing. Make sure your blog has an organised look and clear visuals. Add some detail in but not too much, no one wants to read an essay!

Have a large address or title!

Make sure your title and address stands out so viewers will immediately see your product name and company name. The bigger the better, but do not use up so much space as space is limited. Make sure your visual also stands out, as that is what attracts viewers the most. Have your logo as a big visual as well.

Here is an example of an advertisement with a large visual and title:

As you can see, there is not much detail but a catchy phrase and large logos and visuals. McDonalds kept the advertisement simple and organised. Not too much weighting, but it is easy to understand what the advertisement is about.

Add a phone number!

If viewers have any questions about your product or company, they can simply dial the number you provide them with on your advert! Making your phone number bigger and bolder will also attract viewers towards your advertisement.

007 007 007

See, didn't that attract you? Big, bold titles and contact details are a magnet for advertisements!

Don't worry if you leave some white spaces.

It is ok to leave some blanks. No one wants to try to read a million words in one advertisement. The whole idea is to keep it simple!

Reflection:
This assignment was not easy. It took lots of time and effort to research and create, but in the end, I was happy with the final product. I used many website articles in which are referenced above. I found it quite difficult to find advertisements of relating to each key factor, but in the end I got there. The hardest advertisement to find was the Games and Activities factor. I had to use youtube clips for that one. All the others were photos I collected from google images. I tried to present this assignment in a organised and eye catching manner. It took me a couple of nights to complete. I am quite proud of this work and I will happily do it again. I learned a lot of new things whilst writing my assignment. I am also proud that I have reached beyond 750 words, which for me is a lot as I am used to writing shorter articles. I can improve on this assignment by using stronger and more accurate vocabulary, but for my first ever assignment in Digital Design class 2015, I believe that I have done fairly well and I am quite proud of this assignment.
