Reflection (blog)
I completed my peer evaluation with Christopher, you can view it if you scroll down a little bit on my blog. I self evaluated by reflecting on my pieces of work and assignments/assessments in the Digital Design class. I think my weakness are writing longer assignments and reflections )even though I wrote above 750 words for my World of advertisements project). I struggled to reach the minimum word limit but I eventually reached it. I can improve on reflections and if you scroll down my blog, you will find a drawing of my plans for my final advertisement. I changed the colours and wording/phrases/persuasive words but I kept the layout the same. I think my only weakness are reflections and following my draft and planning papers. Overall I am happy with how my blog is in order and how it is organised.
My friends have also complimented me on the theme, design and organisation of my blog, I am very proud of the work I have produced within Digital Design class (and also the work I have produced at my home as homework, including projects/assignments and assessments.)
I spent a lot of time editing my blog and I am proud.
Thank you for reading this VERY long reflection!

Christopher's evaluation.
Here is my reflection:
I am happy and I find that I need to add more words to my descriptions. I apparently need to add more information. Overall my blog is quite colourful and I am happy with the peer evaluation. Thanks Christopher. Check out Christopher on : blobber2010 :)
To improve on information I will take more time to read about advertisements and I will then write that Information out on my blog. I think that will really help my blog become more informative and hopefully meet Christopher's likings.
To improve on writing longer reflections (which I am doing right now) is to thoroughly reflect on my work and look for areas of improvement to write about and how I can improve on those areas. I am really hoping that in the next couple of terms in 7BB that I will learn how to add more information to my blog on Digital design and I would also like to learn how to make my future reflections longer so that they are around 200 or even 250 words long.

My finished advertisement!
Here is my finished advertisement!
As you may see, I changed the colours of the background and sunglasses as I thought having a theme on my advert may attract more customers, but I still used bright (not too bright) colors. I put the Ray-Ban slogan in bold and large letters so that it stands out. I really hope you like my advertisement!

Ray Ban sunglasses ad
Design Specification
I have added the following words to my advertisement: protective!! Stunning!!
I used a colourful background to attract viewers' attention and to make it appealing and colourful. I drew a large visual so that viewers can see what my product looks like. It also makes the advertisement more interesting and attractive. I also made the writing colourful and big/bold so that viewers get attracted. I added the ray-ban slogan which is Never Hide. I added shapes with persuasive words inside to pursued viewers to buy my new product. I initially wanted my bright and colourful advertisement to pop out and stand out from other sunglasses and normal dull/not colourful advertisements.
I plan to use font size 45 for the title and 35 for the subtitles and 20 for the persuasive words. I will use DTP publisher.
-slogan credits to ray-ban

Inquiry and Analysis
Statement of inquiry: Advertisements as a form of communication have evolved through time and space to influence through time and space to influence audience's perspective.
Introduction:
I am a student of technology. As part of the MYP term 1, we are using DTP (desktop publishing software). It enables us to create unique flyers, posters, newsletters, magazines and brochures professionally and for school purposes.
As part of the MYP curriculum I have decided to design a magazine advertisement advertising my new social media.
I am choosing flyers advertisements therefor, my target audience are passers by who take the flyer and those who are looking to buy sunglasses.
I will create a fun, colourful and eye catching advertisement on a section of a magazine page. In the end I will also create a video about my new social media.
My strengths are editing texts and making them very colourful and eye catching. I am also good in laying out different texts and adjusting the shapes and sizes of images and texts.
The title and bright, bold colors will be the main part/highlight of my magazine advertisement.
I will take however much time is given to complete my task to the best standards. I will not leave the task to the last minute.
I need to advertise my sunglasses so I can earn its of money so that the social media can thrive. It will also need to become very popular. This is why I need to advertise my sunglasses. I will create a flyer advertisement as many people will view the advertisement. I flyer is the best type as I can make the advert very big, colourful and eye catching.
It will be useful to many people such as people who like look fashionable and protect their eyes. It is also great for people who want to socialise their friend that doesn't live close by. It is a great way to protect vision and look fashionable.
My target audience are those who are looking for a new pair of sunnies and those who want to be in trend.

Comparing different methods of advertising:
Advantages and disadvantages of Magazines, Newspapers, Television, Radio, Out-of-home, Internet, Speciality.
Magazines!
Advantages: Many people read magazines so the advertisements are highly noticeable.
Target: The target is the magazine readers.
Disadvantages: The disadvantages are that it will cost a lot of money to publish the advertisements.
Newspapers!

Televisions!

Reflection
I created a poster on methods of (online) advertising. I described the different ways of online advertising on my poster using fun colours and an organised layout. I created the poster using Microsoft Word. I enjoy creating posters therefor I enjoyed creating this one in Digital Design class. Next time I can maybe use darker but still colourful colours. I also enjoyed writing about the advantages and disadvantages of the methods, but some of the advantages and disadvantages were quite hard to write. I would happily do this task again and I enjoyed doing it a lot. Here is how I made the poster:
First I opened up Microsoft Word.
Then I opened up google and went to a website (link on my poster) about online advertising.
Now I changed up the words a little bit and began writing on my poster.
When I was complete I gave it a title and added some pictures and font colour!
Making posters in Digital Design class is one of my favourite things to do. I enjoy presenting information in a fun, colourful and well organised way! I also learned a lot about the different ways of advertising and the advantages and disadvantages of online advertising. I feel that the best way to advertise is on Social Media as it has many users.

Associate an Advert to each of the

Association: The first thing that comes to my mind is the USA. This is unique as the products make up the USA flag. I can relate it to an Association advert. It is related as it has a USA flag on it.
Must-have: A delicious burger. The use of language.I can relate it to a must have advert. The visual is quite unique as the woman has a very shocked face. A must have advert. It is related to this as it uses very convincing language.
Games and activities: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSdJtNen-EA
A fun game. The advert is quite attractive as it has many bright colours. A games and activities advert. It shows how fun the game and makes you want to play it.
Call to action: A very good deal on the product. There is a good layout and a huge title. A call to action advertisement. It tells the viewers to "buy now!"
Repetition: A large sale on the product. The repetition of "sale". A repetitive advert. It repeats the word "sale" many times.

Special Ingredients: A tasty coffee. It convinces you that the product is best. A Special Ingredients Advert. It states that this is the "best" coffee made for you!
Hype: A fun and large moving sale, it seems very exiting. The characters and use of words. A hype advertisement. it uses the word "wow!"
Fear: A fresh chewing gum. The large visual and the statement. A Fear advertisement. It states that it makes you have a better habit.
Humor: A cute, fun and funny advertisement. the baby! (character) A humorous advertisement. The baby has a cute and funny face on which attracts viewers attention.

Claim: A healthy gum. The statement, "healthy!" A claim advertisement. It claims that the double mint gum is a healthy gum.

Sense appeal:
It makes me look twice! the way it is set out, it makes viewers look twice. Sense Appeal. It is a creative and fun advertisement which looks pleasing.

Testimonials and Endorsements:
Jennifer Anniston! It has a celebrity in it. Testimonials and Endorsements. Jennifer Anniston is modelling the water.
My reflection:
I found it surprisingly hard to find adverts using google images to relate to Games and Activities. I had to use a youtube clip as my example. I found out that not many companies create advertisements in the form of Games and Activities. I myself do not find the Games and Activities advertisements very attractive and appealing. Finding a sense appeal advertisement was extremely easy as companies love to use this to attract customers. i found them very appealing and entertaining to look for. If I were to design an advertisement, I would design a Sense Appeal advertisement as they attract much more viewers. Humour advertisements always crack me up!
I love to view funny advertisements, sometimes this even results in me buying products from that advertisement! It was also quite hard finding a hype advertisement, many companies rather make advertisements featuring celebrities. Fear advertisements were also quite easy to locate as many companies such as "Extra" use fear to persuade viewers to but their product. I loved researching on this task as it gave me the opportunity to view and learn about different types of advertisement. I have gained a lot of knowledge on advertisements and I would do this again. I felt like a very principled learner whilst researching this task. I was also an inquirer as I asked many questions and tried to answer them all using my research skills.

Grab and hold viewers' attention.

Grab and hold viewers' attention by using bold colors, catchy and creative phrases and interesting visuals among your advertisement. Some examples of catchy and creative phrases are
Here is an advertisement that makes use of bold colors:
Make your message simple:
Make your message simple but effective to let viewers know that you are the best and that they should buy from you. Come up with a quick but informative sentence or two to help viewers get to know you and your product. Make it simple yet easy to understand. Add lots of visuals as they are far more valuable and much more eye catching than words. Make sure to include your catchy phrase in too!
Explain why you are the best!
If you can and are allowed, write about how you beat other products and why customers should buy your product. Try to include persuasive language in your catchy phrase.
Make it memorable.
Be sure to create an advertisement that stands out and one that has a fresh, new memorable look. This is so important because if your advertisement is memorable, viewers will remember to switch to you when they get the chance. You can make your advertisement memorable by using bright and interesting visuals and a catchy phrase.

Here is an example of a memorable advertisement:
If you achieve this, no one will forget about you product!
Make it entertaining!
A fun and creative advertisement always attracts viewers as it's something fresh and different. A funny catchy phrase is always good fun to read, or a humorous visual can be a great eye catching part of you advertisement. This also makes the advertisement more effective. The more effective an advertisement, the more popular your product gets! Make your advertisement as effective as possible!
Effectiveness!
As mentioned in previous areas, effectiveness is the key to a good advertisement. Using catchy phrases, memorable visuals, bold colors and simple messages your advertisement will become highly effective. Use as many of these factors as you can, your product will become very popular in no time!

Here is an example of an effective advertisement:
Include links!
Including links and buttons will help viewers get to your website or product faster and it makes your advertisement more organised and simple. Viewers may be willing to view your product or website and anything that will help and encourage them to view your product will help grow your product popularity.
Include your discounts!
Include your product discounts on your advertisements. Viewers will be more attracted as they see the price has lowered. At the same time, make your advertisement unique.
Here is an example of an advertisement which displays their product's discount:
As you can see, the advertisement also includes a catchy phrase and bold colors.
Keep it professional!
No one wants to read a grammatically incorrect advertisement. Run lots of spell checks and grammar checks before publishing. Make sure your blog has an organised look and clear visuals. Add some detail in but not too much, no one wants to read an essay!
Have a large address or title!
Make sure your title and address stands out so viewers will immediately see your product name and company name. The bigger the better, but do not use up so much space as space is limited. Make sure your visual also stands out, as that is what attracts viewers the most. Have your logo as a big visual as well.
Here is an example of an advertisement with a large visual and title:
As you can see, there is not much detail but a catchy phrase and large logos and visuals. McDonalds kept the advertisement simple and organised. Not too much weighting, but it is easy to understand what the advertisement is about.
Add a phone number!
If viewers have any questions about your product or company, they can simply dial the number you provide them with on your advert! Making your phone number bigger and bolder will also attract viewers towards your advertisement.
007 007 007
See, didn't that attract you? Big, bold titles and contact details are a magnet for advertisements!
Don't worry if you leave some white spaces.
It is ok to leave some blanks. No one wants to try to read a million words in one advertisement. The whole idea is to keep it simple!

Reflection:
This assignment was not easy. It took lots of time and effort to research and create, but in the end, I was happy with the final product. I used many website articles in which are referenced above. I found it quite difficult to find advertisements of relating to each key factor, but in the end I got there. The hardest advertisement to find was the Games and Activities factor. I had to use youtube clips for that one. All the others were photos I collected from google images. I tried to present this assignment in a organised and eye catching manner. It took me a couple of nights to complete. I am quite proud of this work and I will happily do it again. I learned a lot of new things whilst writing my assignment. I am also proud that I have reached beyond 750 words, which for me is a lot as I am used to writing shorter articles. I can improve on this assignment by using stronger and more accurate vocabulary, but for my first ever assignment in Digital Design class 2015, I believe that I have done fairly well and I am quite proud of this assignment.

Digital Design class.
Hello, my name is Jasmine and I love my Digital Design class. My favorite lessons are P.E and Digital Design also known as I.T class. It is really fun and interesting as I learn lots of new things every lesson. This lesson we designed CD's for a display.
Here is how I made mine:
Step 1: I opened up Microsoft Publisher. I went to labels, scrolled down and then selected the CD template. I opened it up.
Step 2: I created a circle shape and put it around the inner circle then I made a larger one and put it around the larger circle.
Step 3: I right clicked the inner circle and filled the inner circle with white color.
Step 4: I then went to google images and found a cute image that I liked. I right clicked and copied it.
Step 5: I pasted the image into my document. I right clicked and then changed the shape into a circle. I made it so that it would go behind the inner white circle.
Step 6: Then I was done! I saved it to my folder.

What I did in class.
Here is my hour in digital design class.
The first thing I did was full out my worksheet about the different symbols. Then I created my CD design using Microsoft publisher.
